The 1981 model is the best model year ever made. This bike was designed after Kawasaki engineers had enough time to look at previous generation models and learn from their mistakes. This is the improved version from earlier models. Steering rake, eat height, pright seating position all add up to a ride comfort unmatched. I put on almost 7 thousand miles in 7 months only because this is a bike that when you hop on you simply cannot get off. It won't let you. The bike was aimed at the city slicker. A city slicker who simply wants to cruise around town now and then while looking good and feeling good. The stock gearing on this bike is the same as the police model version. A gearing that some describe as radical. You are not going to win the drag strip races but in the city and up to city speed limits there is nothing on 4 wheels under the 35 thousand dollar mark (stock off the showroom floor) that this bike cannot sweep aside. Mustangs, amaros, ouped up cars trucks of all makes and models may mistake you for a putt putt. It's up to you to let them think that, r you can simply twist the throttle and say ta-ta. High dollar Harleys that don't know better after seeing you float by get humbled immediately and fall in line as they yield to your command.
This is not a barn yard find. This is also not an over priced listing as you will find with other listings and the only justification for their price is the bike is an earlier model so therefore in their minds they think it must be worth more even though they have very little if any maintenance history. This is a bike with low miles, bike that has been cared for, bike with a maintenance history, ompletely stock, nmodified. A bike that gave engineers years of practice to make the mistakes of the earlier models and to build on and make refinements into the development of the 1981 model you have right here. If I were to continue going on, would simply talk myself out of selling this remarkable history piece.
Bike has been gone over from front to rear. Includes log book with odometer readings, ates, nd work provided with receipts and a couple of videos. Also included is original owners manual and correct year service manual.
There is not a single bolt on the bike that I have touched that I know of as being stripped. None of the cam cap bolts are stripped. Look up kz1000 cam cap bolts. Manyof the bikes you'll find today have these sort of issues and the associated problems.
All chrome on the bike is clean. Tank and sidecovers are gold flaked lime green. Both sidecover emblems in place with new emblem locks to keep them there.
Motor operates at optimum temps. Evidence by the non discoloration of the stock chrome pipes that were replaced with the kerker exhaust only within the last year. This bike has never over heated. Again, ook up kz1000 but this time search for pictures of exhaust pipes. The majority of stock pipes you'll see are rainbow colored because the bike was ran lean. Pictures of the stock pipes are located at photo bucket.
The bike is completely stock except for the kerker and the carb jetting. Kerker is setup as it was delivered with the street baffle minus the glass packing.
