Description

Here we have for sale my dads Kawasaki ZZR600

This is for sale due to my dad having bought a newer 56 plate SV650 and he prefers the riding position of that. Both my dad and I are avid bikers and have another 4 bikes between us. he is very attached to this one and will be sad to see it go. It was bought by my dad to get back on the road biking after being off the road for over 30 years. It has proved to be the most reliable. quick and comfortable machines we have had for some time.

I also like this bike and it has been used by me as much as him as it is so easy and comfortable to get on and ride. Its been used for some fast rides as well and she handles extremely well for an old girl and very easy knee down action. please read on.

We originally bought the bike six months or so ago to get him back into it over the summer. The bike was bought because I had already had a number of these before and knew the bike well and thought it would be ideal for him.

We also had a number of parts which cane with the bike from the mechanic who previously owned it.

She has in the past year (before our ownership) had a nut and bolt rebuild. When the mechanic owned it the head gasket went so he set about rebuilding the entire bike with some nice little added touches along the way.

The rebuild involved taking the old 54k engine out and replacing it with a 16000 mile 2001 ZX6R engine. This has made her very quick indeed for a touring bike but that wasnt all that was done. Whilst the engine was out the mechanic replaced and jetted the carbs to suit the new engine. He replaced all the downpipes with stainless ones and changed the 4-2 exhaust for a much better 4-2-1 system. The system is in great condition and although loud comes with a baffle to quieten it down a bit if its not to your liking. Whilst engine was out the bike also had new chain and sprockets. The sprockets were changed for more acceleration and dropped a tooth on the front and gained two on the rear. The acceleration is now considerably better. though the top speed has been sacrificed a little (ive personally still seen 155mph though). the clutch was replaced as well as a precaution due to the age. and both the front forks were rebuilt and the rear shock was replaced as well (all with parts from the 16k ZX6 that was bought for the job).

Once the bike was rebuilt she had a few extras done to increase the level of comfort for the rider. which has worked a treat. The levers were changed for pink coloured levers and the handlebars were changed to a flat style renthal set-up. which has made the ride a lot more comfy and look better as well and in my opinion makes cornering a lot easy when flicking it around.

The headlight was replaced with a new one as the old one was misting and its had new blue coloured low lighters fitted which set her off as well.

The mechanic originally bought a replacement ZZR to use for parts but when he found out the mileage on the spare one he bought not to be genuine decided to buy the ZX6 as well and use a mixture of both to rebuild this one. It was certainly a labour of love and its turned out lovely and his loss was our gain.

When we bought the bike the mechanic handed every single part that was left from both bikes to us to take away with us to show the rebuild was done genuinely. We ended up having to come back to collect the remainding bits as the engines took up the boot and we had another pallet of parts to bring home. a lot of which we sold on ebay as we didnt need them. We did however keep a number of parts back we thought we would need at some point such as levers. hubs. spare wheels etc etc a lot of which will be going to the new owner.

In my opinion the rebuild has bought back to life what would have been a tired old bike. Also all the fairing panels were changed from the other ZZR that was bought as they were in far better condition. The bike is now what you see here. she is black and silver. The tank is silver as well and in good condition though it currently sitting underneath a tank bag. which I think sets the bodywork off as well.

The brakes are original but were rebuilt at the same time and are very good indeed. They have had new pads in the past 2000 miles and the tyres have done about 300 miles since my dad had them fitted at the beginning of the summer at a cost of ??180.

In summary the bike needs for nothing. she is up and running low mileage example ready to be used daily if required. It has never failed to start on minimal choke and is always performing effortlessly. keeps up with a lot newer bikes in far more comfort.

If you have any questions about the bike please let me know.

The mot is valid until May 2015 and had no advisories and has only covered 500 miles since them anyway.

The speedo reads 56k as the original mileage though the engine has covered approx 16400 miles as have all the main mechanical parts.

Unlike so many bikes. She has never been recorded as being in an accident at all and from examining the fairings it doesn't appear to have had any damage to them at all and is fully HPI clear. She polishes up beautifully and really looks the part. There are obviously some scratches and scuffs (its 20 years old) but the bike shows no signs of repair work and rides like a new bike. Pulls well throughout the gears and doesnt jump throughout the gearbox at all. Brakes and discs are great and very good indeed.

The bike was left with its original centre stand which is a must if you maintain your own bikes and makes it a lot easier.

My dad reports over 50mpg from her and with that ZX6R engine. she pulls like a train and out accelerates my mates 1999 GSXR 600 SRAD with ease so its a perfect bike for every purpose.

She is never run cold. always warmed up and always starts on the button without fail.

She has always been garaged since we have had her.

The bike needs nothing other than a new owner and will do the new owner proud for many years. Insurance is cheap as chips (??54p/a for dad) and is a perfect all rounder.

Grab a genuine bargain and don't forget she cones with two boxes of bits and bobs worth a few quid too.

If the bike doesnt make decent money it will be kept as dad doesn't really want to sell anyway but wants to potentially but a track bike with the proceeds of this one.

Grab a one off opportunity to buy her. test rides are not allowed end of. if you want to come on the back I will take you out. No canvassers and no tyre kickers as this will not be entertained.
