1966 TRITON CAFE RACER - ROLLING PROJECTTRIUMPH BONNEVILLE ENGINE IN NORTON SLIMLINE FEATHERBED FRAME* * * CLEAN TEXAS TITLE AND SHIPPING INCLUDED!!! * * *On offer is a rolling project. basis for a Triton Cafe Racer. If you don't know what a "Triton" is. it's a classic cafe racer built from a Triumph big twin engine and a Norton "Featherbed" chassis. In THIS case. it's a 1971 Triumph Bonneville 'unit' construction engine mounted in a 1966 Norton 'slimline' Featherbed chassis. Last chance for this project. If it doesn't meet reserve. it gets parted out. ENGINEStock 1971 Triumph T120R Bonneville 650 engine. Points ignition. pair of Amal concentric carbs. NEW pistons & rings (blemished from age but never run. pistons have no size markings whatsoever). Everything inside the engine is completely stock. to my knowledge. I HAVE NOT SPLIT THE ENGINE OPEN. I don't think it's EVER been open to the crank. Personally. I would open it up and clean out the sludge trap. but the buyer is welcome to cross his fingers and run it as-is. FRAMEOriginal 1966 Norton 'slimline' Featherbed frame with swingarm (no original swingarm spindle bolt). NO TABS HAVE BEEN CUT. it's all there. It has the 'loose' upper rear mounting tube. not the welded-up tube. Decent paint with very few scratches. other than the bottom side of the lower tubes which are scraped up. NO SIDE OR CENTERSTAND. SUSPENSIONEarly 70s Triumph forks with disc brake mount. with the 4-bolt aluminum end caps (one cracked). matched steel yokes with eyelet holes for handlebar mounts. Forks need overhaul. I don't have the correct thread top caps. Shocks are a basically a matched pair of scruffy old Girlings; they still work. but new shocks are inexpensive. WHEELS. AXLES & BRAKESWheels are both original Triumph Dunlop chromed steel with zinc coated spokes (a bit tatty). Front brake is a standard early 70s Triumph Lockheed caliper and master cylinder. both needing total overhaul. no hoses. Rear brake is a 60s Triumph "QD" (quick detach) hub with no brake plate and/or shoes. etc. Rear hub includes a bolt-up sprocket with NO BOLTS. Front axle is matched to the forks and wheel. Rear axle is a 2-piece Triumph unit. heavier than the Norton swingarm cut-outs; modifications required (incorrect bolt temporarily inserted to allow chassis to roll). Tires are strictly for rolling the project around. CUSTOM PARTSENGINE MOUNTS - I build retrofit engine mounting kits for Tritons. specifically for unit Triumph big twin engines. The kit includes a pair of front mount plates. a pair of rear mount plates. a set of left and right outer plates for footpeg mounting. head steady plate. head steady top mount bracket. and ALL required hardware to bolt everything in place. All aluminum plates are 6061 structural grade aluminum. unpolished. Kit will be installed. with engine in place in the rolling chassis. unless buyer pays for crating the project for shipment as parts. SWINGARM SPINDLE - I build retrofit kits that replace the old 'Silentbloc' metalastic bushings in the swingarm with sintered bronze bushings; the kits also replace the original 1/2" spindle bolt with a 5/8" shaft with one welded-up end plate and the opposite end loose bolt-up plate that secure the assembly to the frame with 4 bolts and one large Nylock nut. The shaft and bushings are sealed with o-rings. and the assembly is lubed with heavy oil. STEERING BEARINGS - Fitted up is a set of very good condition tapered roller bearings with top dust cover. OTHER PARTS INCLUDEDI am including a decent set of Clubman style handlebars. Norton central mount oil tank. pair of used levers. used throttle assembly. and some miscellaneous hardware to hold it all together for shipment. I don't have any kind of seat that would fit. sorry. EXHAUST NOT INCLUDED. GAS TANK NOT INCLUDED. If it's not specifically listed above. IT'S NOT INCLUDED - WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. Bid accordingly.
