Description

If you're reading this. you've probably heard of Colorado Norton Works. Matt. the owner. has been building Norton Commandos since 1997. A complete rebuild of a 1975 Norton like this one is now $36. 45 plus a donor bike. There's a reason for this. Check out their website. coloradonortonworks. com. to see what goes into their rebuilds. Matt's idea is to make the Norton Commando. a great riding bike plagued by issues of quality. assembly. and outdated technology. in to one you can use and enjoy every day. His bikes are not just rebuilt. but updated. This bike is the 45th he has done. and has about 2500 miles on the rebuild. My guess is that when the bidding stops you'll have this bike for well less than half of what a current rebuild plus a bike costs from Colorado Norton Works. Two of the CNW options on this are the hydraulic clutch and rear set foot pegs. The hydraulic clutch gets rid of cable drag and gives a more predictable friction point. The rear sets give the kind of riding position this bike demands. since it seems to seek out 70-80 MPH. I've added two Amal Mark Two carbs. They look great and. after dyno tuning from my friend. Jim Mosher. carburete perfectly. I've also changed the bars. which;. with the pegs. work great for me. I'm 5' 11 inches tall. I can think of three current issues with the bike. I dabbed the hot left header with a micro fiber towel. I won't do that again. There's some wear on the right fork tube that doesn't polish off. The sharp-eyed among you will notice that the shifter peg is gone. I like the position the rear sets put me in. but the distance between the peg and the shifter peg is such that it's easier to upshift by pulling up on the shifter peg with my heel. If you think of the effect of rotational direction on the peg. you can see why mine fell off. My photographer couldn't wait for a replacement peg. but one will be included. This is a very nice motorcycle. that has been maintained and ridden the way it should be. Thanks for viewing. any questions please call (505) 350-5387
