1955 NSU SUPERFOX 125 CC OHC MONO SHOCK

I have my 1955 NSU 125CC Superfox up for auction. Only 4130 NSU Superfoxs’ were manufactured making this bike particularly rare. My bike is in great condition and is one of the few located in the United States.

I got my first NSU when I was 15. Now, t 71 years old I have several NSU‘s in my collection. I began working on and riding motorcycles with my father at nine years old. My uncle was a motorcycle dealer for 45 years in Michigan.

Due to some extensive medical issues I have decided to sell this one and reduce my bike collection.

The work put into this bike was a complete frame up restoration.

I installed many new parts including German Heidnau tires and tubes, ew chain, xhaust system, ew locks and keys for the battery and tool box. A complete rebuild on the engine has been done. The front leading link suspension has both new bronze bushings and a bronzeswing-armbushing. The correct VDO speedo was completely reconditioned by Hollywood Speedometer. The chrome on the rims and tank is original. I purchasedswaggedstainless spokes from Germany that are exactly like the original ones. I installed new seals in both wheels and the brakes and brake drums were cleaned. I also had a new stainless braided oil lines made.

Has a complete new exhaust system fromGermany.

The bike was bead blasted and completely repainted. It also has a new wiring harness. I haven’t started the bike since it was completed. The timing will need to be set. The main bearings, iston, ings, rist pin are new as well as the Welt Meister gas cap. Welt Meister is German for World Champ. NSU won the World Championship in 1953, 4 and 55.

NSU bikes were very advanced in design for its time. They have mono shock rear suspension and leading link front suspension with dual front shocks. The engine is an overhead cam with hairpin style valve springs. The cam is driven by eccentric rods, o chains or gears. The engine looks like a two stroke as the rods are incorporated in the cylinder. The engine has a through the frame air intake which is famous for its reliability. The Superfox was a fast bike for the day. A 125CC would hit 65 MPH if you were tucked in. They will cruise all day at 50/55 MPH and would be a great choice for a Motogiro bike. You would probably have the only one entered.

The NSU’s were German quality at its best. NSU was the largest motorcycle manufacture in the world in the early 60’s. There bikes were built to such a high quality they priced themselves out of the market as the Japanese starting importing cheap bikes.

A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction ending. The remainder of the balance must be paid within three days of the end of the auction. My preferred method of payment is Paypal.
