SST Gemini 50cc Mini Trail Bike 1970 1971 Maverick RARE

I received this bike in a trade. I do not know much about these little bikes. I cant tell what is original equipment or correct. It looks as if it is mostly original parts and seem to have the correct patina/age to be original. There are chrome parts that have some flaking and corrosion. I was able to get the bike started and rode it but it is hard to start, ight be a timing issue. Seemed to run and operate with no problem but wouldn't idle well. Aslo not sure of the year either.

The Gemini was a mini bike manufactured by the Shin San Tong Co. Inc. of Taiwan and imported into the United States by American Steel between 1969 and 1973. The SST company supplied motors for Yamaha so it's hardly surprising the two-stroke 50cc engine was essentially the same unit produced under license, lthough the Gemini range eventually diversified to include 80, 25 and 175 models. The 50cc Mini's rotary valve engine was powerful and torquey, llowing the bike to punch well above its weight and the company's slogan - “The Maximum in Minis…” wasn't too far from the truth. Indeed, any reports mention the bike was significantly faster than Honda's Z50 and could even keep up with a CT70. The Gemini brand struggled to establish itself in a market dominated by better known Japanese rivals and the lack of dealer network in the United States meant it only survived until for a few short years, ith survivors rarely seen today. Forgotten by all but the most ardent mini bike enthusiasts, eminis (also referred to as the Ferrari of minis) are popular with collectors around the world today.
No title has been issued for this bike and I will provide a Bill of sale to the new owner.
