Very Rare 1961 Royal Enfield Prince 150cc Two Stroke
It seems as though only approx. 600 of these were ever made between 1959 and 1961
Apparently they could not compete with the ultra popular BSA Bantam!
This has been a project/labour of love of mine for the past year or so and is 95% towards completion and now is the time to let someone finish it off
I have receipts totalling almost £800 towards the work I have done plus there is about a further £600 spent for which I have no receipts (re-chroming. Seat Recovering. manufacturing parts for exhaust system. kick start mechanism etc. etc. )
The engine has good compression and I have fitted new piston rings/gaskets et.
The kick start mechanism was worn. so new components have been fitted there
Had to make new baffles (stainless steel) for the exhaust. plus a new rear sprocket as none were available to buy
You can see the transformation from the photos (of which I have many more)
The bike has not yet been registered. although I do have the original buff logbook and the last tax disc from when it was last on the road in 1969.
Also included is the parts manual and ?ˆ?instruction book?ˆ™
I believe that the mileage of 6134 is correct
The bike needs an M/O/T. I have had it running and rode around the car park at work for about 30 mins to try & bed in the new front brake shoes ?ˆ“ but when it stops. it is a real job to restart (hence the lack of M. O. T)
I managed to crack the headlamp glass whilst fitting it. so it will probably need a new on of those.
Apart from that. the bike looks lovely and is about as original as can be.
I did add a new coil. battery. HT lead. cap & plug. I also added an ignition switch (with 2 keys) and a lock for the left hand tool box/side panel and a brake light switch (originally. there was no brake light switch)
This is an opportunity to own a real piece of rare Royal Enfield history ?ˆ“ and stand out from the crowd with what I am sure will go on to be a show winner if entered into a classic bike show!
Please note: Collection only from Isle of Wight ?ˆ“ transport will be necessary as the bike cannot yet be ridden on the road;
Viewing is recommended and I can meet you at the ferry from Portsmouth/Southampton or Lymington & take you to view it if necessary.
Please feel free to ask any questions or ask for more photos etc.
