Description

Up for auction a very nice 1972 Suzuki. Motor has been rebuilt using as many OEM parts as we could find. Motorcycle has a brand new battery and is currently registered and has passed Texas state inspection. MOTOR:

  • Completely disassembled. Cases checked for damage and cleaned.
  • Crank shaft sent to well known and respected crankshaft re-builder. It was checked and new updated crank seals installed.
  • Transmission shafts put on lathe run out and examined. Checked out perfectly.
  • New clutch plates (fibers) metal plates reconditioned.
  • Brand new OEM Suzuki water pump and impeller.
  • After market silicone cooling hoses.
  • Cylinder examined for bore size and taper. It is still within factory specs for standard bore.
  • Replaced pistons rings clips pins and bearings with OEM factory parts. (see pics)
  • Motor assembled by myself - 27 year professional Japanese motorcycle mechanic AMI certified Daytona Beach Florida 1988. During the re-build of this unit I consulted with older mechanics who were familiar with these bikes when they were new.
  • Motor has Suzuki CCI in it's oil system which is functioning perfectly. 4 extra quarts included with sale of bike.
FRAME & CHASSIS
  • Bike is not in original paint. Previous owner had it painted emblems removed and screw holes filled in with putty.
  • Paint is shiny but tank has damage from a fairing that was mounted on it at one time. (see pic)
  • Left mirror is original with Suzuki emblem. Right mirror is a replacement.
  • Levers are original.
  • New clutch cable.
  • Grips are original.
  • Seat is original but has tears where it attaches to pan. Pan is solid no rust.
  • Turn signals are in decent shape but are pitted and need cleaned up.
  • Fenders: rear is good shape no damage. Front has bends.
  • Turn signals work. Right rearlens has crack.
  • Tail light in good shape.
  • Tires are older starting to weather crack
  • Chain and sprocket in good shape.
  • Bike comes with original owners manualwarrantymanual original Bill of Sale from July 1972.
  • 4 quarts cci 2 cycle oil. OEM recommended oil for bike.
  • Bike is in overall decent shape for its age.
ISSUES
  • Exhaust pipes both left and right have damage. (dents and scrapes) Exhaust leaks around bridge connector pipes slightly. The mountingflanges have pitting and rust.
  • Starter clutch slips when bike is cold. After it warms it works every time.
  • Points cover damaged.
  • Bike has 40000 miles and there are dings and dents and scratches etc that one would expect from a motorcycle of this mileage and age.
RUNNING CHARACTERISTICS
  • Runs like all other 1972 GT750s run and handle. After this model year they went to front disc brakes which improved its stopping tremendously. And then later on they changed to CVcarburetorswhich improved its runningnoticeably. Bike will start easily it shifts through the gears good and runs out strong. BUT it is heavy in the corners you feel every bump in the road and breaking is adequate but not great. Technology has come a long way in 43 years. These old bikes will leak 2-cycle oil out of their pipes so I do not recommend purchasing this motorcycle if you want to use it for transportation. I have ridden this bike for over 100 miles since motor was installed. It is very reliable and solid. But please understand the best we can do with this bike is to make it like it was in 1972. And if you research this bike they were not over impressed with it in 1972.
MISCELLANEOUS
  • We did not polish paint or alter thepatinaof this motorcycle in any way. We just cleaned it.
  • This bike is a true survivor especially with all of its paperwork intact.
  • Bike has a ton of personality.
  • There is no sound like a big bore 3 cylinder 2 stroke motorcycle engine. You will be noticed at your rides.
  • If you do your research you will find that there are two types of GT750 engines - Ones with new crank seals and the ones that are going to fail. These are known for losing crank seals and water pumps so ours is a very safe purchase because the main problems have been addressed with this engine rebuild. So buyer beware purchasing any GT 750 that hasn't had its crank seals updated or replaced recently. Engine rebuilds generally run around $2500 to $3000... if engine isrebuildable.
ShippingLocal pick up preferred. At that point we can have a consultation and I can go over the bike with you. We will build a crate prepare bike and deliver to local shipper so you can use multiple trucking companies. This will need to be arranged and will be additional cost (we will build crate and deliver to shipper for free but buyer is responsible for freight).
