1982 Yamaha XJ550RJ SECA

 This is my 1982 Yamaha Seca XJ550RJ. I bought it back in August of 2009 with the intention of restoring it.   I have too many other toys and unfortunately this one has to go.   Now it just needs the final details finished to be a REALLY nice bike.   In the spring of 2012 I rode it from Illinois to Texas.   I have only put about 2000 miles on it since 2011

New Parts Since 2011: Speedometer cable. tachometer cable. clutch lever. brake lever. rear brake shoes. mirrors. tank emblems. side cover emblems. carb rebuild. carb jets. handlebars. 4-into-1 exhaust. drive chain. foot-peg rubbers. shocks. tires (75% tread left). battery. carb-engine boots. carb-airbox boots. I also had the engine covers chromed and the rear brake backing plate chromed. I also have some new parts that are included but just not installed. such as: Fork seals. master cylinder sight glass. carb butterfly screws. rubber clutch lever cover. YICS block off tool

It was painted in October 2011 using House of Kolor paint.   Winefire red over orion Silver with mini metal flakes.   Unlike the original paint. the design isn't a decal.   The paint has a few chips in it. I pointed them out using arrows in the pictures.   there are 2 on the front fender and one on the tank. the one on the tank is about the size of a dime

The bike starts really easily with just a little choke.  When you rev it up after it is warm. it hangs around 2500 rpms before dropping back down to idle.   This is just a Carb Synchronization issues. I don't have the gauges to do the carb synch. I am sure any competent bike shop can take care of it pretty quickly for you if you don't have the tools. I am including the YICS block off tool which is needed to properly synch the carbs  The brake master cylinder sight glass is cracked and is showing its age.   I have a new sight glass that is included. it will just need to be installed.
