HONDA CX500 BLACK 1978 - US import 1994

The bike is a Honda CX500 1978 US model (the US model only has one front disc brake as opposed to the UK models two). nbsp;imported to the UK in April 1994. I have owned the bike since March 2004 where I used it as a commuter to my nearby workplace (4. 5 Miles) for approx 15 months prior to relocating. Upon relocating I took the bike off the road and have kept it sorned since. The bike is kept covered in my shed. I have done some periodic mechanical work on the bike while its been stored. Overhauled the front break caliper (new piston and pads). replaced the fork springs with Hagon progressive springs. replaced the seat (2nd hand - solid (see image). replaced the old leaking carbs with a re-conditioned 2nd hand pair (I have not got around to balancing the carbs. although they run well as they are). Battery replaced. Seat rubbers replaced or purchased new for replacement. Down pipes in fair condition. Silencers in good condition.

I run the bike approximately every six weeks to ensure the engine remains free. It starts swiftly once the carbs are primed with fuel. and will then start on the first or second ignition press from that point on. either cold or hot. idles smoothly and is free revving.

The condition of the bike is fair to good for its age. I have tried to capture the condition of the entire bike from the images I have provided. the main cosmetic blemish is on the nearside of the tank (see image). The frame and alloy parts are in fair/good condition

The V5 is present and under both my name and current address. I have the two MOT certificates from when I MOT'd the bike in 2003 and 2005. The bike has been sorned since 17 Feb 2006.

I cannot guarantee the mileage shown at 23663 as genuine. the two MOT certificates I have in my possession show 22114 and 23527 respectively. but I have no documentation to verify  the authenticity of the bikes previous mileage.

I am selling the bike together with a variety of items (see image) - new rear view mirrors. bike disc lock. carb synchroniser. rear/front disc brakes. wheel bearing. new seat cover (current seat fine) sparkplugs. headlamp bulb. new shaft drive gaitor. CX Handbook. multimeter (plus other bits as per image)

I am selling the bike as I dont use it. I have flirted with the idea of either restoring the bike or making the bike into a cafe racer. both of which would entail a great deal of personal time. something I just dont have in anywhere near enought abundance in order to undertake such a project. I have therefore decided to sell the bike to someone who I hope can make use of it either in its present condion or as a solid foundation to a winter project.

The bike is being sold with NO MOT and NO ROAD TAX

The bike will require collecting (from Gloucester) in either a van or by bike trailer. date of collection to be agreed with seller once auction ends.
