1970 Kawasaki H1 500 - Peacock GreyEngine #: KAE-12564Frame #: KAF-13577Build Date: 01 / 70After long debate (and some internal struggle) I have decided to release this all-original ?ˆ?survivor?ˆ? Kawasaki H1500 for sale. When I found it the bike was filthy dirty and untouched for almost 30-years. It came out of an old dealer inventory and went into the hands of the dealer?ˆ™s family along with several others. It got little use and was then parked in a garage and stored uncovered. I cleaned the bike and found it to be remarkably well preserved. If you are into the Kawasaki Triples and like them original it does not get any better than this as they are only original once! The new owner will not be disappointed with this bike. I have done everything I could to preserve the originality but also have a performing and functioning classic bike. Throughout the time that I have owned the bike it has received all proper maintenance and great care. There were a few parts missing and some in poor condition. I added a mixture of NOS and excellent condition used parts to bring the overall presentation up to what you see today. The bike looks fantastic and runs equally well. It is reliable. I did add some aftermarket parts because (to me) they improve the function without taking away from the appearance. The bike has a Sy-Tech Clutch Release. This greatly reduces the force needed to pull the clutch in (even with the stiffer RED clutch springs installed). I added a Pingel Petcock because the stock vacuum units always leaked and were a constant maintenance issue. The Pingel never starves the bike for fuel. shuts off and has never left a puddle of fuel on the garage floor. I installed a beautiful set of Highwayman Expansion Chambers. These are handmade Denco reproductions done in Stainless Steel. They look exactly like polished chrome Denco pipes BUT - they fit better. work better and will never rust! They are fitted with better hardware too - also SS. They cost me over $1000. My bike is featured in some of the pictures on the Highwayman websiteNOTE: I will include all the spares I have for the H1 including; the original exhaust system in decent shape. an NOS left fork lower. the center stand. the petcock and a few other bits. I will add some pictures of the spares later this week. I don?ˆ™t keep any garage queens. this bike is a rider! I just put a new battery in. It has good compression. Starts easily with a bit of choke. Warms up and blows out some oil/smoke (if its been sitting awhile) and then burns like an H1 should - it smokes properly not excessively. The oil pump and injector system is there and operating properly. It pulls hard up into the 8. 00 range and beyond. 8k is where I always let it off. By then you are hauling-ass and I never found the need to wind it up any farther. The carbs were jetted for the Highwayman Pipes and synchronized but this is a two-stoke and you can always improve on the tune. Someone with better skills than mine can definitely make the bike run better by continuing to adjust the needle heights and jets. I am satisfied with the performance as it sits. You seldom see the Peacock Grey H1?ˆ™s for sale. I believe they are confirmed to be the rarest color of H1 throughout all the years of manufacture. When they do come up for sale they are usually ratty. rusted and spent. Those that are no longer original and were repainted. always seems to be too light of a shade of grey to me. The stock grey color is dark - almost a pewter color metal-flake against gloss black - and this was one of the reasons it was unpopular back in 1970 (everyone wanted the white or red bikes). As you can see in the shots. the tank looks almost entirely black depending on the angle. regardless of the brightness of the light - that is the original Peacock Grey - very dark. This bike has an amazing patina and it sports its original factory paint. It shows its scars from living for the last 44-years but it also shows gloss in the paint as bright as the day it was new?ˆ¦. So some scratches yes. but it also shines like it did in late 69?ˆ™. I would never repaint this bike myself. I love original Kawasaki paint and finding original Peacock Grey in this condition is not a very common occurrence. They are only original the one time?ˆ¦?ˆ¦Now at 9108 miles. Running strong. Looking. smelling and sounding like an actual original survivor should?ˆ¦. Please look closely at the photos - they do tell the story.
