Norton Commando 750 Roadster British Classic 1973 UK
I have for sale my Norton Commando Twin Cylinder 750cc
Registered July 1973
This a rare UK Norton Commando with matching numbers. It was owned by a retired Major for several years. who bought the bike from GB Motorcycles in 1998. after it was taken in part-exchange. I asked him for many years that if he was to ever sell the bike that I was to have the first refusal. suffice to say I became the lucky owner of the Norton in 2012. The bike was in superb condition. and has been kept in a heated indoor garage along with my other collection of motorcycles and cars.
This particular Commando is the Roadster model which features the beautiful black metal fuel tank. with the gorgeous painted golden Norton lettering. The Commando was a brilliant success when it was released. achieving “Machine of the Year” award for five successive years from 1968-72. She produces 65 brake horsepower (48 kW) at 6500 rpm with a 10:1 compression ratio.
I am a member of the Norton owners club. and after owning a Commando 850 in the past I was thrilled to be part of the exclusive club once more when I acquired this 750 Roadster. As you will already know the Norton Commando is one of the most desirable classic British bikes that you can buy today. and to have such a lovely example which rides like an absolute dream is a real joy. She has covered only 40. 30 miles in her lifetime.
The bike will come with previous MOTs. and invoices from the previous owners. Since owning this beautiful Commando I have made a number of purchases and upgrades so that she rides as elegantly as she looks. Below are a small example of the parts that were bought brand new with the majority purchased from Norville. spending approximately ?1. 00 to make it perfect.
Brand New Amal Carbs
Rebuilt front Forks
Brand New Lucas Electronic Ignition (Essential for those wanting to use their Norton)
New Battery
New Chrome Mirror
Complete Service with Oil. Oil Filter. Spark Plugs and Plug Leads
The bike has only ever been used in dry weather. and for the rest of the time is coated/greased and kept cosy amongst my other bikes under the warmth of a cover in my indoor garage so has really been pampered. She has always been warmed up before a Sunday ride. and ticks over like a watch. As I say she is in lovely condition. and whenever I take her out it gets compliments from everyone. even persons with no motorcycle knowledge. Many hours have been spent in the evenings waxing and cleaning the bike to keep her looking so nice. but please bear in mind the bike is 40+ years old. and is not like buying a brand new motorcycle – there are signs of its age. which add to the patina. so some further investment will be needed to make her concourse winning. As I have previously said. she has been a lovingly cared for example by both myself and the owners before me. and will make a sound investment wanting a Genuine British UK Commando.
The Commando will come with 12 Months MOT so can be ridden straight away.
All photographs have been taken with a high resolution 45 Megapixel camera. and a video walkaround of the bike with it stationary or running is available for serious buyers.
I had always envisaged keeping the Norton as a family heirloom for my son. as finding such a lovely bike was a once in a life time opportunity. and an assured appreciating asset. I am more than happy to talk to any serious buyers. but please do not waste my time with a low offer as I am in no rush to sell such a lovely bike.
