Description

Entire bike has been disassembled and rebuilt using new parts as needed. Many improvements aimed at reducing weight and increasing performance. Frame and associated parts were sandblasted and powdercoated semigloss black. Spoke wheels are MUCH lighter than the stock cast boat anchors. Lighter wheels are a great improvement in handling and suspension performance on any SR500. Rear wheel is a racing unit off a Yamaha TZ250. Wider than stock so you can mount a wider tire. Front wheel is off a Yamaha XS650. Drilled rotors and steel braided brake lines front and rear. New sintered metal brake pads. New fork seals and oil. New Emgo shocks. Motolanna front fender. Rear fender was shortened and LED tail light added. Seat has been shaved and recovered. Custom wiring harness eliminates all unnecessary wires that are not needed. Battery not needed on this model and was eliminated. Capacitor installed for bright lights even when the engine is idling. Engine was rebuilt using a new 90mm Wiseco piston ( 540CC ) . a Megacycle 25140 cam. performance valve spring kit with aluminum retainers. hard faced rocker arms. new cam chain. 38mm Mikuni carb. and a fresh 5 angle valve job with light porting. This is a mild engine build with a 9 to 1 compression ratio and small cam. Starts just as easy as stock. and just as reliable too. Runs great on pump gas. and has approximately 20 - 25% more power and torque than stock. Polished engine covers . vapor blasted engine cases and cylinder head. Cylinder painted in high temp flat black. Vapor blasted fork legs and front hub. Aftermarket megaphone type exhaust. I don't know the manufacture but it is in good shape with no dents or damage. Sounds great!New K&N air filter. and breather filter. New DID gold chain. and new sprockets ( aluminum rear)Flat track bars. new grips. levers and master cylinder. Brake systems have been flushed. bled and refilled with fresh DOT 4 fluid. New Shinko tires. Rear is a 120/90. one size wider than stock. New wheel bearings. new swingarm bearings. seals and shaft. and new tapered roller steering head bearings. Other new OEM parts were used as needed in the build. This is a very fun blast around town bike. it is geared a little lower than stock but will still hit 90. Great low end torque pulls you around corners. just roll it on. With the engine mods and the approximately 30 pound weight reduction. this SR has greatly enhanced performance with no loss of reliability. Less than 500 miles since rebuild! This is basically a new bike and I have a stack of receipts to prove it. I had fun building it but I have too many bikes and am almost finished building a '72 Norton Commando which I'll probably be riding a lot more than the SR so maybe someone else will enjoy it. I have set a reasonable reserve. you couldn't build this bike for what I want for it. basically I just want my money back. the labor is free. I've been a mechanic for 30 years. this bike was built right and I'll be happy to answer any questions. This bike has a clear Arizona title in my name. I have sold and shipped bikes in the past and will deliver to a local terminal at no charge to the buyer. Buyer is responsible for shipping charges.
