Description

Up for consideration is a beautiful 1979 Triumph T140D Special.

No reserve auction!

2 Owner bike from Oregon -> Idaho.

Clean & Clear title in hand.

Matching numbers. Original Paint. Original Miles (4. 37 miles).

This bike runs flawlessly and can be either one of the nicest daily riders to show off to friends.   OR add a few finishing original touches for a perfect original Bonneville T140D Special.   The bike went through a service last July with new battery. tires. fluids and is ready to be ridden this summer. just add gas and go.   The bike will start first or second kick and runs really well.   No weird noises. no smoke. shifts great through all the gears. clutch is nice and firm. pulls hard through all the gears.

Things worth noting on the bike;  The chrome is unbelievably perfect. looks like new with no pitting anywhere on the fenders and bits.   The wheels look amazing rated a 9/10.   There are a few very light chips in the black paint that can easily be touched up (check out photos).   As with a lot of British bikes you have a small drip of oil every once in a while.   Things I would do to make this T140D Special a perfect original bike would be. Change the exhaust system to the original 2 into 1 and exhaust nuts (The aftermarket pipes on it now are sound amazing but the chrome is not perfect. )  Also add new rubber on the kickstarter and driver pegs.   The key switch rubber is cracked.   It is missing the left hand mirror (some stock pictures I see online have only 1 mirror).   Needs a tiny cheap lower spring to hold the side covers in place (The top one is present).   The rubber boots attached to the carbs are the original and slightly weathered.   The tank is very nice 9/10.   A few small chips and there is a small spot on the top of the tank where the clear coat looks a little flaky (pictures).   I think this is fine to leave or a professional could fix it easily.   Overall this could be a 2015 show bike or a perfect bike to ride everyday.   These later Bonneville's are known for being a well sorted bike by Triumph and one you can really enjoy riding.   I believe these bikes to be somewhat rare being the Special.

No reserve and the starting bid is $4. 00.   Based on other bikes I have looked at over the years I think this should be a good starting price.   NADA (not that it is accurate) Excellent is listed as $6. 00 and Very Good condition is $3. 50.   I think this bike fits better in the excellent category.   Get a great deal before the spring and have something classic and nostalgic to ride!

The bike is location in Boise. ID.   Shipping is up to you!  Normally I have used Haul Bikes. Uship & others.   I think anywhere close to Idaho will be around $250-$450.   Across the US shipping will be closer to $650-$800.   The bike needs to be paid for within 7 days of the auction ending.   As soon as the auction closes I will provide contact information and we can chat on the phone.   I make this process as easy as possible and am able to talk on the phone anytime.   I am happy to hold the bike while you figure out shipping.   It will remain unridden in a safe heated garage.   I will accept money wire or personal check.   The check MUST clear the bank before any trucking company comes to get the bike.   I have had several buyers who want their bike ASAP.   The fastest way will be a wire transfer and I will provide all necessary banking information.   As soon as payment clears my bank I will overnight the title to you with Bill of Sale and any other documents needed.   I will hold the bike for a reasonable amount of time (1 or 2 months).   Please make sure you have funds and are ready to move the process forward when bidding.   Thank you for looking at this Triumph and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ask any and all questions.   I have 100% feedback for a reason and want to make sure you know exactly what you are buying. as often times it is hard to buy something like this online.   I have sold many classic motorcycles with great results!  Please see pictures below.

THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION. IF YOU BID PLEASE BE READY TO PAY.   IT TAKES A LOT OF TIME TO POST THESE AUCTIONS AND EBAY DOES NOT REFUND LISTING FEES.

WIKI. "Launched in 1979 and designed by Triumph's Tom Higham. the Triumph T140D Bonneville Special was a styling exercise inspired by the Yamaha XS 650 Special. Several T140D features such as the top-mounted rear disc caliper and revised grabrail became standard on the T140E. The Bonneville Specials were finished in gold-pinstriped black with a stepped seat and seven-spoke USA-made Lester mag-alloy wheels and a tuned two-into-one exhaust for the USA market. [nb 5] The T140D had polished fork sliders and a shortened chrome mudguard fixed in place by its central bracing strip. "
