Yamaha RD400
Daytona Special
Here is a restored RD400 Daytona Special.
This is a real one not a clone.
I started out with a bike having 12523 miles.
I completely disassembled the bike.
I cleaned and painted the frame installing new bearings and bushings.
The motor was completely rebuilt. The crankshaft was rebuilt. New rods and bearings. Cylinders were bored. new pistons and rings. New clutch. New gaskets and seals. New ignition to include coils. Carbs were rebuilt.
During the reassembly the brakes were rebuilt to include calipers. master cylinders and new pads.
Progressive front springs were installed also new fork seals.
New air filter. New cables to include throttle. speedo. tach and clutch.
New tires and tubes.
New battery.
Exhaust was rechromed.
New handle bars and mirrors.
Topped off with a first class paint job and graphics all clear coated done by HVC Cycle.
THIS BIKE IS BEAUTIFUL
AND DOES IT RUNS
YOU WOULD NEVER THINK
400cc COULD BE
THIS
MUCH FUN
Lately there has been alot of discussion about which is better to have
an original or a properly restored bike.
Well I always ask myself what is it that I'm going to do with the bike?
Put in on display or ride it.
If it's only a display bike well then I guess you just want
something that looks good.
If you want to ride it then if you buy one of these 30 to 40
year old bikes with zero miles on them you still have to
go through everything.
I always plan on being able to ride my bikes so
when I restore one like this I go through everything.
If you have any questions or want to see the bike you can call me at 239-596-3695 and ask for Randy.
