YAMAHA RD250 LC 1980Welcome to my listing for my RD250 LC. A little about the bike. she is a 1980 model 250 LC and has previously had work on the engine by BOB FARNHAM of Kent. the work included a 275cc Overbore of the original 250 Engine and a 350LC (4L0) Gearbox in place of the 250 gearbox. Why this work was completed I do not know. maybe the gearbox went or maybe he wanted a faster 250. I have spoken to Bob himself and he said it does sound like something he would've done but it was back in the late 90's and he said 'my memory ain't that good now'. Along with the engine modifications she is also running a set of Swarbrick Racing Pipes and a Harrison Billet Front Brake Caliper. She also has Wide Bars and Bar End Mirrors. The RD had a respray from original White to Black and Yellow. this was changed on the V5 and the Engine number was also changed to suit the 350 Gearbox. the actual CC output of the bike hasn't been changed but can be when sold. I bought this bike back in June this year as something to do throughout the summer. she wasn't running right and wouldn't pull over 6k. I have spent some time and some money on her and got her running good again but due to sitting around the clutch has gone stiff. I am in the process of attempting to free it off but I will have to update this listing with the progress of that. She does go into gear but the clutch isn't fully engaging. I do feel that the Exhaust gaskets could do with replacing soon. I stripped the basics off her and started at the top. with replacing the air filter element and giving the box a good clean out. I then went to replace the fuel tap as the original was leaking but found. after draining the tank. lots of sediment from the fuel. I decided to use a tank sealant to seal the inside of the tank. effectively creating a tank in a tank. for this I bought Petseal. I could then replace the Fuel Tap with a new one from Yambits along with new fuel line and clamps. While I was there I also purchased a Genuine Choke Plunger and replaced the broken piece of an R-clip with that. There was also a slight leak coming from around the L/H casing so I stripped that and found the clutch push rod seal had worn. So I replaced the Clutch Push Rod and the Push Rod Seal. The bodywork could do with some TLC. the left panel has a crack in it and the right one has paint cracks. they have been sprayed black but not very well. fibreglass would be adequate enough to repair the panels. the tank has one or two small dents (more dings than dents) and could do with a lick of paint but isn't a necessity. There is also a smaller number plate on the back and 4 new indicators which are ok. She has covered 35791 miles which is still only a hair over 1000miles per year. Other than that she has the odd age related mark as to be expected from a 34 year old bike. The tyres and brakes are good. all fluid levels are good. With the bike I have the original Chrome Grab Rail. a spare horn. the original Bar ends and a clear rear lens including a couple of stickers from Bob Farnham and Swarbrick Racing. I also have the receipt for the Swarbrick Pipes. receipt for the front pads (Harrison's). old and new MoT's. few tax disks and set of spare keys. V5 is present in my name. MoT ran out June 6th 2014 and RD is currently SORN. RD is also HPI clear. I have probably forgotten something but I will update this if I have. I am selling this as I have done what I wanted to do with the bike now and I need the space and money for another project of mine that I've been trying to start for 4 years. She is a good. well modified. usable RD250LC but she could do with some TLC over the winter. a lick of paint and an MoT would see her back on the road in all her glory in no time :) I have been as honest as I can. feel free to come and view the bike. it is based in Eastbourne. East Sussex. Shiply will provide quotes for transportation and are quite reasonable. Thank you. any questions please ask. I will ask for a ??100 non-refundable deposit when purchased and collection within 7 days. Cash on collection would be preferable. No warranty or refunds implied or given.
