1976 yamaha xt500 great condition

for sale is a beautiful 1976 Yamaha xt500 that has been partially restored and is in perfect running condition

starts on first/second kick every time /compression 130psi clean title on hand

To those savvy to the xt500. the above pictures do have the rear shocks mounted incorrectly. and the shocks have been corrected

the bike is in fantastic shape and has been recently pulled apart/cleaned/repainted and items replaced as follows

bike has been restored but is not at the height of other restorations listed. more of a resto/mod as not all parts or stock and some items are missing i. e blinkers and some of the original hardware. but it is a fantastic looking bike that can be ridden Dailey from day one and needs virtually nothing for less money than a museum piece

the good:

has new front and rear tires

all light operate

battery is new

new fork seals and fork gators

new throttle cables(push and pull

new new front brake cable

new oe Yamaha grips

replaced clutch cable

replaced both left and right hand levers

replaced shift shaft seal and counter shaft seal

replaced oil filter and new oil

air filter clean and serviced

carb has been removed and rebuilt has 35 pilot jet and 200 main

new plug

new front brake light switch

rear fender is oe Yamaha and is brand new!!!!

front fender brand new!!!1

seat recovered with factory style cover

points have been replaced adjusted and timing is set

valves adjusted to spec and cam chain tension

kick start indicator has been added from a 1978 xt500 to ease starting

engine/cylinder/head/headlight/gauges/fork clamps/headlight ears/side stand/levers/footpegs degreased and painted

what it still needs

faces on gauges cracked and faded and need replaced (lights/gauges operate normally)

speedo/tach and decomp cable a little worn but operate

exhaust is not the best. doesn't leak and sounds good

rear swingarm pitted and needs re-coated

new spokes/powder coat hubs (non are broke and rim is true just dirty and pitted)

frame looks great has minimal pitting/scratching from use

the tank is factory from 1976 looks too good to strip and paint. not dented at all!

side covers in good condition stickers could use replacement
