I'm listing this as a restoration project but it may only need a few hours work. I wanted a superb flat tracker but was so disappointed with the efforts I saw. I decided to do my own. I bought a 5000 mile immaculate XR1000 and converted it over 6 months. It is the first and only bike I've done. with expert help where needed and just threw loads of money at it - the shiny bolts cost $300! It came out really well. interestingly different to ride and certainly it gets the attention. Parts include : supertrapp exhausts -wrapped and aluminium heat guards with special noise extenders. bypassable oil cooler. paddock stand bobbins. wheels built in stainless spokes. harrison billet brakes (??1000). cafe bars. pingle fuel filters. chain tensioner. Contour hand controls levers($1000). ill switch. programmable shift light. tacho. ed chain. Storz seat and tank - custom painted. Maxton suspension and Ceriani forks (?? dont ask!) I hope you can see from the photos that it was done to a very high standard. I probably did 1000 miles on it over 2 years and then. I witnessed a bike accident on the TT course and decided to stop biking. selling 8 of my ten bikes apart from the two irreplaceable ones. 4 years later I have realised I will never ride again so one bikes gone and this is the last one. NB for four years it has sat untouched in a central heated. dehumidified garage. I have just put it on a bike stand and it is dusty. the battery is flat and the throttle is jammed (stuck sliders?). I cannot see any reason why it shouldn't only need a good service. carbs cleaning. nbsp;fresh fuel etc etc and some sorting to make it good again but under the circumstances it is a restoration project. I sold my other bike a few weeks ago in exactly the same condition and got a text saying ' bike easily started. many thanks ****. So perhaps not much work and it could be great again?
But. I will also include all the parts off the XR1000 (except the seat which I cannot find). They are in very dusty original condition but there should be 90% of parts to remake the XR 1000. A XR1000 is worth ??14000-??15000 and you could sell all the Flat Tracker parts. Nothing was cut on the original bike apart form removing the steering stop lugs to allow more movements on the big handle bars. It is not a Champion frame - they are just the correct decals I had made up.
Could you race it? I suppose so but its a standard engine and wouldn't be competitive (unless you know better)
Comes with all paperwork.
Just in case. the red bike is now. the black was the before.
NB terms and conditions.
Ebay is great and I have dealt with some really nice people but also some timewasters. idiots and crooks. I am a friendly person. fair and easy to deal with. If you bid you and win you are legally obliged to pay that amount. If you have any questions please ask before bidding. You are welcome to view. discuss and have a brew. If you want more photos please ask. Bike is kept in a locked garage. behind gates with CCTV ( no that's not a challenge!) and will only be released on cleared funds. For the right person its a great project at a bargain price. And before you ask - if its that good why don't I do it myself? I haven't the heart. time or the enthusiasm to do a bike I'm not going to ride again. If it doesn't sell. in the New Year I will get it done and sell it when the weather is better. I need the garage space and any offers less than the opening bid amount will be politely declined. Will ship worldwide at buyers cost.
Thank you for reading all this and hope it is just right for someone out there.
John
