1969 Velosolex 3800 iconic French moped project

I have for sale this original 1969 Velosolex 3800 square frame moped. These bikes are becoming more and more popular  in the UK and there are a number of excellent clubs that organise runs etc.

This bike is a barn fresh project and as such offers an excellent opportunity to become a Velosolex owner at a reasonable price. Prices have been rising lately as people discover how practical and what fun these bikes are.

The bike is 100% complete including the tool box with several original tools and an old insurance certificate showing the bike was last on the road in 1989. This does not mean that it has been unused since then as until recently. when it became law in France for mopeds to be registered. lots of people simply used them without bothering with insurance or a licence. It has plenty of surface rust but it is cosmetic. These bikes were built from extremely thick rust resistant metal and have to be left in very damp conditions for years before they rust seriously. The chrome  on the wheels. handlebars and optional engine crash bars is not brilliant but usable if you wanted to leave the bike in its barn find state. Both tyres will need replacing due to age.

The good news is that the bike turns over fine and sounds fine with good compression. No attempt has been made to start the bike and at the very least it will need the fuel system cleaned out before it will run. The plastics are all present and in good condition with no cracks.

There is no log book with the bike as it has never been registered in France. I will supply the bike with a French certificat de cession which proves that the bike came from within the EU so there is no duty or VAT payable. It also makes registering in the UK a simple affair and I am happy to talk the winning bidder through the process.

 Please note that this bike is at present in the town of Chabris in the Indre (36) department of central France. For a price of £40 I can arrange delivery to the Worthing area a few days after the end of the auction. Other delivery destinations are available but please email me for a price. The bike can also be collected from the Ardingly autojumble on the 12th of October. Alternatively you are welcome to come to France to collect the bike and I will offer the inning bidder one nights free accommodation in our B&B included in the final sale price.

Payment is by cleared sterling cheque if you are having the bike delivered or by cash on collection if you are coming to collect her.
