Description

For sale here is a 1932 AJS T8 model which is a 500cc overhead valve twin port machine. This bike has its V5C present and is on an age related none transferable registration. The bike is tax and MOT exempt at this age.

This machine has some information on file relating to previous restoration. Briefly. the main points are that the bills are around ?2350 spent and indicate mag / dynamo overhaul. new seals / bearings. re-sleeved and re-bored. lots of new parts. gearbox and clutch professionally overhauled. Some of the bills don. say exactly what they are for. but its clear the speedo has been restored. the wheels re-built and the machine looks to have had a new exhaust system at some point and has clearly had a decent paint job.

The bike starts and runs fine. Its a three speed hand change machine which is rigid with girders. Everything seems to operate as it should and this is a well sorted machine. no undue noise no undue smoke. pulls well. Starts easy and all lights up. This is also a bit of a premium machine. 1932 would have been the height of the great depression and this was a deluxe model with twin porting and lots of bling. This would have been an expensive machine in its day and is not a common machine to see today. Very rare and is in very good usable condition. Its still not mint. but its very good. Wheels are powdered black and would have been at this period. Theres lots of bling on it and I think that the restoration was aiming at the bike being restored correctly to original spec. Lots of good work has been done and this is a very nice bike. It does need a speedo cable. but the rest is all good.

Viewing is welcome. 01246 411977 for an appointment. Collection is preferred. although I can arrange delivery within the mainland UK by courier for ?100. Finally if you bid. you buy. no tyre kicking excitement afterwards. viewing is during the auction and not after folks.

UPDATE:  My mistake. On checking the documents I find that the number is transferable after all. I think it may be age related anyway. but it is transferable and not as stated above. Sorry about that. But at least its a positive bit of news and not a negative one.
